Time for the Interview:
What to do?We Believe

When going on a first interview, most candidates experience a level of nervousness. By following a few simple guidelines, these nerves can be stopped and your true qualities will shine!

  1. Be prepared! Check out the company website and know who will be interviewing you. Take the time to find out information about them so you can find a personal level to connect. This is a situation where Facebook and LinkedIn can work to your advantage.
  2. Speaking of Facebook… Make all of your information private. You want your perspective employer to view you as a professional- and that’s not typically how our Facebook pages portray us.
  3. Be confident. You have the skill they’re looking for, that’s why you got an interview. It’s just as important for you to like the company as it is for the hiring managers to like you.
  4. Answer the questions you are asked. Often when candidates are experiencing nerves, they end up rambling. If you remember to address the question with a situation, action and result you will be able to effectively communicate with the hiring managers.
  5. Have fun. Interviewing is a learning experience and it takes practice. The first time I interviewed for a job I told the hiring manager that I wanted to move to the country and raise horses… I’ve never ridden a horse…
  6. If you’re still nervous, call your awesome recruiter at iMethods!

Interviewing can be a stressful experience, but it really doesn’t have to. By being confident and making sure you’ve prepared yourself you will exude a level of confidence that no employer will be able to refuse!
