DOSA Camps Summer Session is Coming!
We are launching a campaign to support DOSA Camps: Camp I Am Special, Camp Promise, and Camp Care. These camps are run with community donations and foundation contributions, and need our help.
Check out www.dosacamps.com to see a short video of what goes on at DOSA Camps each summer. In 2009, 344 campers (kids and adults with disabilities) came out to DOSA Camps for 8 sessions of sleepaway camp. 237 teenagers donated over 45,000 hours of their time to pair up with the campers to navigate a successful week of swimming, singing, horseback riding, and other typical camp activities. Sometimes it's the simple things that have the greatest impact... and this is one such cause.
YOU can help with financial contributions or donations of time. Monetary donations made through the website go straight to camper scholarships, and 60% of campers request scholarship assistance each year to help with the low camp tuition of $250. Many families have a hard time coming up with that tuition, but need a break and know that summer camp is something their kids look forward to all year.
Would you rather donate your time? Go to www.dosacamps.com to download our adult application. We have a staff of volunteer nurses, kitchen directors, activity volunteers, and on-site directors each summer. Each volunteer finds a different lesson in their experience out at camp, and everyone leaves a small footprint that is of benefit to those our ministry serves.
Would your team like to arrange a Dress Down Day at work to benefit the camps? Raise $250 and you'll be sending a kid to camp for an entire week... it makes wearing jeans to work all the more fun! See the inserted flyer to make it easy~ just print it out, wear jeans, collect the money, and send it to DOSA Camps at 235 Marywood Drive St. Johns, FL 32259.
